[Google makes gingerbread, the latest version of the Android platform and the next Android device, the Nexus S.]

Written by Andy Rubin, Vice President of Engineering, Google - The first Android phone to market in November 2008. Slightly more than two years later, Android vision of openness has promoted the development of more than 100 different Android devices. Today, more than 200,000 Android devices are enabled every day worldwide. The volume and diversity of the Android devices continue to exceed our wildest expectations, but we are not slowing down.

Today, we look forward to the latest version of the Android platform, gingerbread introduce and unveil the next Android device from the Nexus line of mobile products nexus S. And for developers, the gingerbread-SDK / NDK is also now available.

Nexus S is the leading device for gingerbread / Android version 2.3, it is the first Android device with the new version of the Android platform ship. We developed this product together with Samsung to ensure tight integration of hardware and software to the latest progress of the Android platform to highlight. As part of the Nexus-S Nexus brand offers what we call a "pure Google" experience: unlocked, unfiltered access to the best mobile Google services and the latest and best Android releases and updates.

Nexus S is the first smartphone to have a 4 "Contour display designed to fit comfortably in the palm and on the side of your face has. It also has a 1GHz processor Hummingbird, front and rear facing camera, 16GB internal memory, and NFC (Near Field Communication) hardware, read information from NFC tags. NFC is a fast, versatile short-range wireless technology that can be embedded in all kinds of everyday objects as movie posters, stickers and T-shirts.

Gingerbread is the fastest version of Android yet, and it provides a number of improvements, such as user interface refinements, NFC support, a new keyboard and the text selection tool, Internet (VoIP / SIP) call, improved copy / to support paste functionality and gyroscope sensor.
